08.01.10 Samir and Elizabeth tie the knot! | Dumbo Brooklyn Wedding Photography

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Dumbo. Yep, that’s what they call it. It’s the little area Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. I learn something new everyday. Sam and Liz are a very cool couple that tied the knot at the very hip Bubby’s Pie Restaurant in Brooklyn. These were my old stomping grounds back in college, it was good to be back. The area is full of life and character, just like this awesome couple. Both of them are very cool, mellow people…, and it’s usually those type that end up surprising you by swinging on chandeliers by the end of the night. The day started off bright early with hair and make up with the help of Eric Canarick and Paul J. DeVito, and then over to the park for some photos. The area between the bridges is lovely, it’s too bad we had a very gray day due to expected rain, but we made the best of it! The wedding and reception was held indoors. This was the first wedding we have ever photographed where the bride and groom cut a pie instead of a cake, and wow the pie was really good! Both families were a delight to work with, you could really see the joy in everyone faces as Sam and Liz became one. This was one beautiful wedding. Congrats guys!

08.15.09 – Shihab and Vania’s Wedding

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Just a few weeks ago we did a quick e-shoot with Vania & Shihab, usually most couples are really stressed out and anxious about their wedding. That was not the case with these two, they were both cool, collected and calm. These two are a photographer’s dream. No bridezilla, no crazy relatives and no mishaps!

Ronak and I started the morning by splitting up our equipment and heading over to each of the B&G’s homes. I went to see Vania and Ronak went to Shihab’s home. I got to take some intimate shots of Vania and her family and bridesmaids as she got ready for her big day. Ronak got some great shots of Shihab and his parents and groomsmen get ready. Guys got it easy, we can just throw on a shirt, belt some shoes and we are good to go! This was far from our usual Indian wedding photography, but a pleasure to shoot.

Their wedding was held at the Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange New Jersey. This venue is amazing! It is located on the Eagle Rock Reservation and overseas neighboring towns and has a great view of New York City. The venue is perfect for a wedding with very European inspired design, romance was definitely in the air.

The wedding itself was held outdoors under the big blue sky. The well manicured lawn allowed for some really great formal shots, as well as some more modern style photos. After the wedding we all went inside to start the party! The reception was one like none other. Ice sculptures, missing vodka slides (don’t ask), Bollywood style dance performances and a bit of corridinho made the night one to remember forever. Enough with chatter, on to the pics!
