Cyril and Merene Engagement Shoot | New Jersey

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Chemistry is magic. Well, not exactly, its science but when these two get in front of the camera it is like magic. Very rarely do we come across a couple that needs little direction and can so quickly forget we are even there! Cyril and Merene just have this strong connection that is so vibrant and alive it is hard not capture a nice moment.

When preparing for this shoot, months in advance, all we could do was hope for good weather. The last go around it was way too cold to have an engagement shoot outdoors so we just had a quick in studio session, this time we were determined to make it out! The night prior we had some aggressive rain and flooding in the area, which prompted us to set up the studio just in case but as luck would have it, the clouds eventually (and sporadically) made way for the sun!

We start the engagement shoot bright and early at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. This engagement shoot was purposely planned on the busiest day at the park, the Annual Cherry Blossom Festivial! Thousands of people from far and near come to check out the blossoms at their peak. People with their spouses, children, dog…you name it, everyone is everywhere with a camera enjoying the day. I am glad we started super early in the morning!

After the park we decided to change outfits a bit and have Merene get into an Indian outfit. With a fresh new look came a whole new attitude, our couple was now much more confident and bold. We were able to photograph some more posed shots with the help of some off camera flash. Shooting under a harsh 12:00 noon sun isn’t the best, but we try to make things work. To end the engagement session we wanted to relax and have some fun. The shoot was finished off with a little football! But prior to hitting the field I wanted this football loving couple to have some photos that tie into their personality. We set up some off camera lighting at a location to create a dark, evening atmosphere with our engagement couple under a “street light”. Check out the pictures and see for yourself!

Cyril and Merene Engagement Shoot | Cherry Blossom Festivial | Sneak Peek!

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

What is going on with the weather? Rain, cold, hail, foggy, windy and hot, there is your 5 day forecast.  When Cyril and Merene selected a super early Sunday morning to be their engagement shoot day we crossed our fingers and hoped the weather would play fair. The night prior to the shoot we had tremendous rain to the point where surrounding neighborhoods were flooded. Lucky for us, Sunday morning brought out the sun in all it’s glory!

We loved working with this couple and look forward to their wedding in September. Here is a quick peek at their cherry blossom filled engagement shoot with much more to come!

Vijay and Bincy – Engaged in New Jersey

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

These days, engagements are celebrated like mini weddings. A few weeks back we had the privilege of photographing Deacon Vijay and Bincy’s engagement at the Milan Banquet Hall in Garfield New Jersey. We first ran into Deacon Vijay at a previous event (Joyce and Robin’s Wedding) where he was participating in the ceremony. After seeing how we work, and some of our photos on the blog and facebook, he contacted us for his engagement.

I knew this event was going to be big, because…well let’s face it…we have huge families. The venue is a bit limited when it comes to shooting locations, and the outside doesn’t really provide much so we had to improvise. Deacon Vijay and Bincy were adventerous (or crazy) enough to actually listen to our suggestions, some how we ended up climbing out of a window and onto a roof top for a quick shoot. I don’t know why they agreed, but we are sure glad that they did.

When you have a team of 2 photographers, they can quickly set up off camera lighting and get more dramatic images faster. We had very little time to get our shots in, but working as a team we were able to stay on schedule (no Indian Standard Time) and still have creative results. Please enjoy these photos from Deacon Vijay and Bincy’s engagement.

Peter and Rachana – Engaged!

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

He adores her. What more is there to say about Peter and Rachana? These two work so well together. He is always on schedule (to the second), and knows what he is doing 3 weeks from now at 2:00pm. She keep him on his toes by throwing him off schedule from time to time, shaking it up a bit. Controlled Chaos. I got a feeling these two are going to be alright.

Peter and Rachana celebrated their engagement at the Chutney Manor in New Jersey with their closest friends and family, and some other people. Don’t you just love how that happens?

Congrats!

09.19.10 Parneet and Nina’s Engagement – Indian Engagement Photographer NY

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

“Let’s just have a small get together.”

These are the famous last words spoken by many Indian and South Asian couples when they start planning some sort of event. As soon as the parents get involved, the list of 45 guests suddenly increases to a little over 150. It happens far too often.

Same goes the story of Parneet and Nina. These two had their beautiful engagement ceremony at the Villa Borghese in upstate New York. I am sure they would have had a great time with a smaller event at home, but this party was well worth it. Once the music started the guests were drawn to the dance floor, and that is where they stayed all night! The DJ kept the party going pumping out the latest Punjabi tracks and mixing in some of the classics. Our pal Lucky from Candle Light Studios served as the videographer, and we chased the couple around for hours while the guests danced nonstop through the end of the night.

There are a few joys a parent will have, all of them involve the happiness of their children. Sometimes it is frustrating when parents take over the event, and invite their college friends wife’s sister’s cousin’s uncle to your event, – just step back, relax and let them enjoy as they celebrate your joy.

Here are some photos from the Indian Engagement party:

08.21.10 Nisha and Ryan’s Engagement | Event Photography

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Relax, it’s a party. That was the atmostphere over the weekend at Nisha and Ryan’s Engagement. Super laid back, good music, good food and an open bar. Nisha and Ryan got engaged at the Chutney Mary in NJ. The boys over at Distinctive Sounds provided music for the event, super big shout out to Dj Pulse for always doing a great job. Dj Pulse was also the DJ at H. Dhami’s live performance at LQ, as well as Nirali and Niket’s Sangeet.

Now back to the couple, these two really got some verbal torment when Nisha’s Dad grabbed the microphone.

“Nisha and Ryan have gotten really close over the past few years, after Nisha had moved I found out that they have both relocated to the same area in New Jersey, it was actually the same city, later I found that they were on the same area, how nice, then I found that they were on the same street, then in the same building, and now on the same floor, I will stop it at that and just say that these two are really close.”

Pwnd. Nice one, Pops. I am sure he will bring his A game to the wedding for his speech.

When the music started everyone hit the dance floor. We had set up an area for group shots, and between the dancing and partying, friends and family eventually made their way over to get some photos taken. We had a great time photographing this couple, and are looking forward to offering our services for their wedding next year. Congrats Nisha and Ryan!
