Sheena and Ankush Indian Wedding Photography

June 4th, 2010

What happens when you have a bride in Texas, groom in California and the families over in NJ? Simple, just plan your wedding from across the country and fly in for the party….easy right?

Sheena and Ankush decided to get married with friends and family at the beautiful waterfront Hyatt in Jersey City. They brought in wedding planner Jyoti Soni to help with making all the arrangements, and to keep the wedding moving along smoothly. Sheena started the day around 10:00am getting her hair and make-up done by the talented Rita Sutar.

Ankush arrived with his family on horse along side 2 dholi drummers. They rocked the waterfront area dancing and singing all the way to the outdoor ceremony. It was terribly windy, and the original mandap was not going to stay put, so the guys at Mandap Design quickly revised their original plans to better suit the conditions. After the ceremony, Sheena and Ankush finally could releax and begin to enjoy married life. Their Indian wedding was a lot of fun to photograph. Here are some of the highlights from their wedding:

5.30.10 – Dipali and Jay’s Indian Wedding

June 3rd, 2010

Sunday morning the sun came up and Dipali was already getting ready for her big day. We started bright and early at 6:00am at the Princeton Hyatt, and joined Dipali as she got her hair and make-up prepared by the team at NeonFix. They had 4 talented Hair and MU Artists brought in to keep things moving fast. You may remember this venue from Niket and Nirali’s Indian Wedding in April. This venue is great for larger parties, if you are looking to have an Indian wedding in NJ, talk to Anthony Valente, he will make sure your event is on point. Make sure to call Dharmi at Evenings of Elegance for the planning!

As Dipali got prepared for the ceremony, Jay was bringing the noise outside during his Baraat. His groomsmen, with vodka fries still brewing from in their system’s from the night prior, danced and shouted so everyone knew the groom was making his way to the wedding! The couple exchanged garlands after Dipali’s Mother greeted Jay and we moved inside to the grand ballroom to get ready for the wedding. Jay did not stand a chance against Dipali’s family, his shoes were gone instantly! The groomsmen were caught off guard! The wedding ceremony itself was very insightful; the Maharaj translated the ceremony in great detail. For decor, Evenings of Elegance brought in Abhishek USA to set up the ceremony area. It really was a beautiful ceremony, check out the photographs from this Indian wedding.

05.28.10 Dipali and Jay Mehndi

June 1st, 2010

So last year we were referred by Anoli at Shaadi Story  to event planner Dharmi Shah of Evenings of Elegance to provide photography service on Memorial Day weekend wedding. Now, Memorial Day is a huge, HUGE wedding weekend for not just the Indian community, but in general.

We had 3 pending contracts for the date, but after meeting with the planner and getting details on the event, we were hoping they would sign immediately! The bride to be is the planner’s sister, so I knew this event would be amazing, well coordinated and full of meticulous detail. Dipali and Jay booked us to capture their awesome Indian wedding.

The mehndi night started the celebration on Friday, May 28th over at the Ramada in North Brunswick. Abhishek USA (no relation!) did the decor and created a nice, lounge type of environment with long beds and comfortable pillows on the floor. For music and lighting, Evenings of Elegance brought in Raaz Entertainment to keep the party moving. For Video, Anoli and her team at TheShaadiStory.com was brought in to cover the event. They also provided video service for Payal and Kunal’s Indian Wedding back in July. Food was catered by Ramada Inn’s Indian Catering Services, and we may have had more than 1 plate. Mehndi was applied to the bride by Malti Sompura and her team while the guests played a game of antakshari which lead to a full blown dandia raas! These families know how to party!

H. Dhami Live at LQ in NYC

May 22nd, 2010

Super big shout out to Dj Pulse for getting me out to cover this live performance at the one and only LQ in NYC.  DJ Pulse of Distinctive Sounds was the DJ from an Indian Wedding we photographed a few weeks back. The venue looked amazing and H. Dhami performed at his best. Special thanks to Emy Kamel and Nadeem Khan for putting together the event!
