Rutgers Unity Show Photo Booth | New Jersey Photographer

Monday, April 25th, 2011

What happens when you give 300 college students a photo booth? Last week we had the opportunity to donate our services to Rutgers Newark. The Indian Student Association and Pakistani Students Association put together their third annual Unity Show. All of the proceeds went to support efforts in Japan. I applaud these young students for being so positive and doing something helpful together. Here are some snapshots from the photo booth. Vijay and Bincy – Engaged in New Jersey

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

These days, engagements are celebrated like mini weddings. A few weeks back we had the privilege of photographing Deacon Vijay and Bincy’s engagement at the Milan Banquet Hall in Garfield New Jersey. We first ran into Deacon Vijay at a previous event (Joyce and Robin’s Wedding) where he was participating in the ceremony. After seeing how we work, and some of our photos on the blog and facebook, he contacted us for his engagement.

I knew this event was going to be big, because…well let’s face it…we have huge families. The venue is a bit limited when it comes to shooting locations, and the outside doesn’t really provide much so we had to improvise. Deacon Vijay and Bincy were adventerous (or crazy) enough to actually listen to our suggestions, some how we ended up climbing out of a window and onto a roof top for a quick shoot. I don’t know why they agreed, but we are sure glad that they did.

When you have a team of 2 photographers, they can quickly set up off camera lighting and get more dramatic images faster. We had very little time to get our shots in, but working as a team we were able to stay on schedule (no Indian Standard Time) and still have creative results. Please enjoy these photos from Deacon Vijay and Bincy’s engagement.

09.19.10 Parneet and Nina’s Engagement – Indian Engagement Photographer NY

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

“Let’s just have a small get together.”

These are the famous last words spoken by many Indian and South Asian couples when they start planning some sort of event. As soon as the parents get involved, the list of 45 guests suddenly increases to a little over 150. It happens far too often.

Same goes the story of Parneet and Nina. These two had their beautiful engagement ceremony at the Villa Borghese in upstate New York. I am sure they would have had a great time with a smaller event at home, but this party was well worth it. Once the music started the guests were drawn to the dance floor, and that is where they stayed all night! The DJ kept the party going pumping out the latest Punjabi tracks and mixing in some of the classics. Our pal Lucky from Candle Light Studios served as the videographer, and we chased the couple around for hours while the guests danced nonstop through the end of the night.

There are a few joys a parent will have, all of them involve the happiness of their children. Sometimes it is frustrating when parents take over the event, and invite their college friends wife’s sister’s cousin’s uncle to your event, – just step back, relax and let them enjoy as they celebrate your joy.

08.22.10 Bhumi’s Sweet 16 | New Jersey Photography

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Now for something a little different. Last weekend we had the pleasure of shooting a Sweet 16. Wow, how nice was this for a change! Indian weddings are a lot of fun, but are also very intensive and stressful, this Sweet 16 was a fun, relaxing event.

Bhumi had a very large Sweet 16 held at the New Cliton Manor with about 300 guests. She had come by a few weeks earlier for a pre-shoot, we used those images on a poster board for all her friends to sign and leave fun messages. The pre-shoot was held in Nutley, NJ under the shade of a large tree shielding us from the summer sun. Music was provided by Dj Kevin Bhatt, from SAX Entertainment. He also provided the music to Ambrish and Nirali’s wedding and Reception a few weeks back. Her party had plenty of fun dance performances and touching moments while she dedicated her candles to her beloved family and friends.  They grow up so fast…

08.21.10 Nisha and Ryan’s Engagement | Event Photography

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Relax, it’s a party. That was the atmostphere over the weekend at Nisha and Ryan’s Engagement. Super laid back, good music, good food and an open bar. Nisha and Ryan got engaged at the Chutney Mary in NJ. The boys over at Distinctive Sounds provided music for the event, super big shout out to Dj Pulse for always doing a great job. Dj Pulse was also the DJ at H. Dhami’s live performance at LQ, as well as Nirali and Niket’s Sangeet.

Now back to the couple, these two really got some verbal torment when Nisha’s Dad grabbed the microphone.

“Nisha and Ryan have gotten really close over the past few years, after Nisha had moved I found out that they have both relocated to the same area in New Jersey, it was actually the same city, later I found that they were on the same area, how nice, then I found that they were on the same street, then in the same building, and now on the same floor, I will stop it at that and just say that these two are really close.”

Pwnd. Nice one, Pops. I am sure he will bring his A game to the wedding for his speech.

When the music started everyone hit the dance floor. We had set up an area for group shots, and between the dancing and partying, friends and family eventually made their way over to get some photos taken. We had a great time photographing this couple, and are looking forward to offering our services for their wedding next year. Congrats Nisha and Ryan!
