05.28.10 Dipali and Jay Mehndi

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

So last year we were referred by Anoli at Shaadi Story  to event planner Dharmi Shah of Evenings of Elegance to provide photography service on Memorial Day weekend wedding. Now, Memorial Day is a huge, HUGE wedding weekend for not just the Indian community, but in general.

We had 3 pending contracts for the date, but after meeting with the planner and getting details on the event, we were hoping they would sign immediately! The bride to be is the planner’s sister, so I knew this event would be amazing, well coordinated and full of meticulous detail. Dipali and Jay booked us to capture their awesome Indian wedding.

The mehndi night started the celebration on Friday, May 28th over at the Ramada in North Brunswick. Abhishek USA (no relation!) did the decor and created a nice, lounge type of environment with long beds and comfortable pillows on the floor. For music and lighting, Evenings of Elegance brought in Raaz Entertainment to keep the party moving. For Video, Anoli and her team at TheShaadiStory.com was brought in to cover the event. They also provided video service for Payal and Kunal’s Indian Wedding back in July. Food was catered by Ramada Inn’s Indian Catering Services, and we may have had more than 1 plate. Mehndi was applied to the bride by Malti Sompura and her team while the guests played a game of antakshari which lead to a full blown dandia raas! These families know how to party!

H. Dhami Live at LQ in NYC

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Super big shout out to Dj Pulse for getting me out to cover this live performance at the one and only LQ in NYC.  DJ Pulse of Distinctive Sounds was the DJ from an Indian Wedding we photographed a few weeks back. The venue looked amazing and H. Dhami performed at his best. Special thanks to Emy Kamel and Nadeem Khan for putting together the event!

04.10.10 – Nirali and Niket’s Reception

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Now that the wedding is officially over it’s time to cut loose!

After a long morning of preparations and an emotional wedding, Nirali & Niket were all set to celebrate for the first time as Husband and Wife! Their reception hall at the Princeton Hyatt was decorated by Elegant Affairs and light up by Dj Magic Mike. The cocktail hour (or two) took place in the atrium as well as the lobby outside the reception hall. There were 4 bars set up to keep the guest’s glasses full.

Nirali and Niket caught the guests off guard with a surprise first dance! After slow dancing for about a minute or so, the DJ cut the record and put on a classic wedding song, Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back! The dance floor was officially open and the party kept moving from the reception hall to the bridal suite for an after party. These guys were a blast to work with.

04.09.10 – Niket and Nirali Sangeet

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Sangeet and Garba events are tons of fun. Giving both families a bit of time to get to know one another is really great. It creates comfort and during the wedding everyone will already be buddy buddy. What can bring together families better than good food, amazing decor, exciting entertainment and a premium open bar? Well, the love between the two that are about to get married, but that is the obvious answer.

Nirali and Niket celebrated their Sangeet / Garba event on Friday, April 9th at the West Trenton Volunteer Fire House. The venue was well decorated with an Oriental Theme by Elegent Affairs. The vibe was set with amazing red up lighting, black and red table settings, hanging lanterns and metal ornaments. This is so not standard, and we love Niket and Nirali for doing something really cool and different. Indian weddings do get bland after a while, and this couple’s unique style made the entire weekend a blast.

Nirali and Niket got the party jumping by surprising all their guests with an energetic dance performance that brought everyone to the dance floor. They brought in talented Bhangra dancer to school the guests and get them ready to party the night away. Music was provided by the guys at www.Distinctivesoundz.com. Check out the pics!

09.19.09 Tejal and Nirav’s Engagement

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Wait, a boat? Italian gondola theme? When Nirav told me the story of how he proposed to Tejal, it all made sense. Nirav proposed marriage to Tejal while they were vacationing in Italy on a gondola, is that romantic or what?! Thanks for raising the bar! They celebrated their engagement at the Zembo Shrine in Pennsylvania. Prior to the engagement, the couple hosted a three hour tour, a three hour tour…(sorry for the Gilligan’s Island reference). The boat ride allowed the two families to get to know each other a bit, they played some games, had some food and chatted up a storm. The Zembo Shrine is an amazing venue. You could not ask for a better day. The sun was shining and the weather was just right. Going into the evening we were not ready for all the bright stars that filled the sky, coming from NJ/NY we don’t really get that so much. Take a look at their pics!

08.28.09 Richa and Nikhil’s Sangeet

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I love it when clients show off our photos to their friends. I love it more when their friends book us for an event! On Friday, August 28th, we shot the Sangeet for Richa and Nikhil in Poughkeepsie, New York. Richa was a bridesmaid to Payal, who’s wedding we had the pleasure of shooting back in July. Richa and Nikhil had their venue decorated with really fun centerpieces that included awesome peacock feathers. Bangles were offered on a tray for all the pretty ladies that attended. Both families were really fun to shoot! The night was full of great food, fun dance performances and all the pre-wedding emotions you can expect the night before the big day! Although we did not have the honor or providing Richa and Nikhil with our Indian wedding photography services, we are sure they looked amazing on their wedding day!
